Born and raised in the Nashville Metropolitan area of Tennessee, Barbara Allen now resides about 35 miles northwest of Nashville in the town of Ashland City, TN on a small farm with her husband. Waking up every day to the scenes and sounds of nature; her love for art seems to grow with each passing moment. Her love for art stems from her younger years from middle school to high school. She graduated from Maplewood High School in 1986. Hilda Wade was her high school art teacher from 9th thru 12th grade. She was a great influence on Barbara and a great supporter. Since then, Artist in Residence, Harold Lovell has become a great mentor, teacher, and friend. He taught her to believe in herself, and that there was nothing that she could not achieve with a brush. The love for watercolors and what they can achieve have since become a passion. Her passion continues to grow everyday to push the boundaries of watercolor and to show people the only limits to this style of art are the limits that we put on ourselves. From the first stroke of the brush to the last stroke of color; each painting is completely finished with a labor of love. Barbara and her husband Charles take each painting to their studio to finish. From matting, to glass cutting, to custom framing, each painting is finished to its finest. Our studio is called “Printers of Art” which includes everything from start to finish as well as printing Glicée prints of her work and for other artists. She looks forward to sharing with people her passion of watercolor to its finest detail.
